Visceral mobilization/manipulation of the internal organs

Through years of research and clinical work, Jean-Pierre Barral, PT, DO, developed visceral manipulation, the standard method of visceral osteopathy in Europe. This concept focuses on internal organs and their connective tissue coverings, their dependent structures, and their potential impact on structural and physiological dysfunctions of the musculoskeletal system. The goals of the treatment: relaxation of the organ shells, restoration of the mobility (mobility) of the visceral sliding surfaces, improvement of the own movement (motility) of the organs, positive effect on blood circulation, innervation and organ function, release of the tension transferred through the connective tissue to the locomotor system. The techniques are successfully used in so-called "therapy-resistant pain" and chronic musculoskeletal complaints (source: https://upledger.at/barral/viszerale-manipulation/).

The adhesion of the visceral tissue, for example as a result of infections, surgical interventions or organ prolapse, damages the locomotor system, thereby reducing the flexibility of the tissue, so the strained organs build up tension, which is then transmitted to the locomotor system. For example, constipation or a bladder infection can cause problems in the hip joint or lumbar spine. With gentle, manual techniques, these limitations can be treated, and the natural movement of the organ and its own movement can be stimulated. This has a positive effect on the functioning of the nervous system, through which the organs are connected to the musculoskeletal system (source:https://www.acumax-kurse.ch/kurse/therapie/viszerale_therapie-leber-und-gallenblase).
